A search for darkness in an age of artificial light. Bortle 8 goes from the depths of the ocean to the reaches of the galaxy in hopes of finding the last untouched place on Earth. Galvanized by love and loss, Chris grapples with a world without darkness and how light pollution limits our ability to connect with the universe. Consumed with his failed relationships and an unshakable need to find total darkness, Chris begins his journey to find a place where you can see all the stars; and in doing so discovers his own personal light and true darkness within.

Bortle 8 is a collaboration between playwright Chris Davis and performer Keith Conallen. Keith Conallen is a celebrated Philadelphia actor who has performed on local stages for over a decade. Keith is a Wilma HotHouse Company Member and was recently seen in Dance Nation. Also Dionysus Was Such A Nice Man, Romeo and Juliet, Passage, Adapt!, When the Rain Stops Falling, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Don Juan Comes Home From Iraq (Don Juan: Barrymore Nom.), Under The Whaleback, Curse of The Starving Class. Chris Davis is a solo theater artist who has toured the U.S. and Europe with his shows. This is their first time collaborating on a project.
