From Jeff Evans as part of Miniball Festival.
Every act of remembering changes the memory. How do we see ourselves, when the most often-remembered stories become the most changed? This interactive exploration and solo show invites you to take part in an effort of self-construction and archivism. Not your own self, someone else’s. Over the course of 50 minutes, you’ll see decades’ worth of diaries, photos, relics, and toys, and ideally stumble upon whatever brilliant revelation must be hidden in them – because why else would you have kept them? It takes place in the Cottage at the Maas building, placed in a real, live room. It’s not a theatre; there’s a bed and everything. You’ll have to walk behind the kitchen to get here. (Please be aware the venue involves several ground floor steps, and a stairway up to the second floor.) Content acknowledgement – the journals involved cover several decades of life. In your time here, you may find writings about puberty, religion, misogyny, racism, anxiety, depression, war, infidelity, the end of friendships, the loss of a child. Interaction with the artifacts is always optional.
