About the Speakers:

Chris Lippa - Having parents who worked in theatre, Chris spent most of his childhood in assorted green rooms waiting for rehearsal to be finished. He was eventually put to use, and worked in assorted roles onstage and off, in theatres in and around Philadelphia until the early 2000’s. For the past 20 years his focus has been the photography of Special Collections material, artwork, and family histories. He is thrilled to have a daughter who is also pursuing a life on the stage.

Michael Kaufmann - Michael Kaufmann teaches at Temple University where he is currently teaching a course on documenting performance, with Babel at Theatre Exile and Everybody at Curio Theatre serving as case studies.  He formerly served on the steering committee of the American Theatre Archive Project and currently serves on the board of Directors Gathering. In the past few years he has been working with theatre artists and administrators to explore ways of documenting and preserving theatre processes and history.  Some initial results of these explorations can be found at phltap.org, a pilot project site.

Karin Suni - A lover of both theatre and libraries since childhood, Karin Suni has combined the two into her position as Curator of the Theatre Collection in the Rare Book Department. After two years with the Free Library of Philadelphia as a librarian in the Literature Department, she moved to London to complete her second Masters in Text and Performance Studies from King's College London, co-taught by the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. In 2011, she returned to the library to take up her role as Curator as well as a librarian in the Rare Book Department.

Bayard Miller - Bayard L. Miller is the Head of Digital Scholarship & Technology at the American Philosophical Society. He spends his days running the Center for Digital Scholarship and making sure that Library patrons can access the diverse array of collections held at the APS. He is a passionate archivist and public historian who spends a significant amount of his free time thinking about the disruptive nature of visual media at the turn of the last century.
