A World Premiere play about Lucretia Mott - A tenacious woman who spent her life fighting for the rights of women and African Americans in the early 19th Century. She co-founded the Philadelphia Female Anti-Slavery Society, and was a co-organizer of the first Women’s Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, New York, igniting the fight for women’s suffrage. Through conversations with her husband, James Mott, and insights from fellow human rights advocate, Frederick Douglass, Under the Bonnet by Shelli Pentimall Bookler reveals the strength of her character, her persistence in the midst of continued opposition, and her lasting legacy.

A moderated panel discussion will follow the performance with Jean Warrington, Executive Director of Historic Fair Hill; Dr. Deboniar Oates-Primus, Assistant Professor of English at Community College of Philadelphia, and Coordinator of CCP's Diversity Fellowship Programs; and Shelli Pentimall Bookler, author of Under the Bonnet.
