Join us for a virtual staged reading of Hatshepsut, a new play being developed by Beacon Theatre Productions. If you choose, you can give feedback after the performance!
In 1470 BC, Queen Hatshepsut became the King of Egypt and began one of the most successful reigns of any ancient Egyptian ruler. Then her successor literally erased her from history by chiseling her name and face off of any monument of her, which made her disappear from history for over 3000 years.
We are excited to bring the story of Hatshepsut to the stage. Her story, which deserves to be told in its own right, is also relevant and analogous to the current events of today. We currently live in an age of misinformation where erasure of history runs rampant and remembering the past is more vital than ever before.
