HAMLET – a virtual reading – Live from Laurel Hill Cemetery on Saturday August 1st at 7.30 PM on ZOOM. (rain date Sunday August 2nd)

REV Theatre Company returns to Laurel Hill Cemetery to offer a site-specific, virtual reading of Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy of love, betrayal, murder and revenge.

When the ghost of his father appears, our legendary hero is faced with a dreadful quandary in Shakespeare’s classic play of love, murder and revenge. A skull, a poisoned sword, a villainous uncle/King, a funeral - or a wedding?- a drowned, insane girl and of course “To be or not to be” – all the familiar elements will be on hand.

Enjoy one of Shakespeare's most famous plays from the comfort of your living room, kitchen, even your bathtub (be careful). REV is committed to creating an inclusive space for our actors and audience. When you RSVP donate to REV and Laurel Hill Cemetery, part of your donation will be processed over to the Arts Leaders of Color Emergency Fund. Through $200 micro grants, this organization supports BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) artists and theatre professionals, many extremely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Though this event is free, any donation is highly appreciated and helps support theatre artists who have faced economic oppression due to their race and the consequences of this global virus.

A 'What to Expect' email will be sent to all ticket holders with information on how to log in for the reading before the program start. (Please note, RSVPs will be open until an hour before the start of the program).

The inclement weather date for this reading is Sunday, August 2nd, 2020 at 7:30 PM EST. If inclement weather arises and the program needs to be rescheduled to the rain date, those that RSVP will be notified by 1 pm on the day of the program. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram to meet our actors.

Led by REV’s Co-Artistic Director, Rudy Caporaso in the title role, this production features well-known Philadelphia actors Neill Hartley, Susan Moses, Kirsten Quinn, Ruth Fischer and Fred Andersen as well as graduates of the University of the Arts: Jahzeer Terrell, Krystal Ortega, Ellie Borzilleri, Julienne Jordan, David Thomas and Rebecca Hassler.

The recorded version of the reading will be available until August 4th.

COVID-19 Update : REV believes the health and wellness of our performers and technicians is of the utmost importance. As our country begins to reopen, we still see it a priority to continue social distancing and changing how we interact in society. It's our duty.

That's why we're making it mandatory for all involved in Hamlet to maintain a 6-10' distance between each other and constantly wash hands and sanitize.

Performers will maintain masked until speaking in their respective scenes. Don't worry, we've still got some magic up our sleeves.
