Creativity as a Career: Therapist, Actor and Diversity, Inclusion and Creativity Consultant Peter Andrew Danzig on Into the Absurd: A Virtually Existential Dinner Conversation Saturday, October 3 @ 5:00 pm on Zoom and Facebook Live!

Illuminating and intriguing, revealing the passions and purpose of creators in our community and around the country, these are the conversations happening weekly, Saturday at 5 pm at the virtual dinner table on Into the Absurd: A Virtually Existential Dinner Conversation. Hosted by the IRC’s Producing Artistic Director Tina Brock and presented by The Idiopathic Ridiculopathy Consortium, Into the Absurd is produced the Philadelphia-based theater company whose mission is to present existential theater to audiences in the Philadelphia region.

Peter Andrew Danzig will join the conversation on Saturday, October 3 at 5 pm to discuss creativity, trauma and their work as a therapist and healer: their research and practice in the arts community and their clinical approach, rooted in holistic, relational and humanistic theory. Using a strengths-based perspective which realizes the resiliency in their clients, their aim is to create a supportive and safe space to navigate trauma, conflict and life transitions. Peter’s focus is assisting artists, LGBTQIAAP+ and marginalized people find strength in a marginalized environment, empowering clients to appreciate their strongest instrument, themselves. Peter’s research focuses on the ways in which our minds and bodies are often separated through trauma; their approach incorporates healing approaches to strengthen our fragmented selves.

In 2014, Peter founded Theatrical Trainer, a non-profit research collective dedicated to social service, mental health, and wellness for artists across the country. They have taught body science, movement and theater arts at Drexel University, Moore College of Art and University of the Arts.

Peter’s research and opinion papers have been featured in Psychology Today, The Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia Gay News, The Mighty, and others. Their practice includes teaching as a motivational speaker, panelist, and conference workshop coach, where their passion in industrial psychology and organizational dynamics helps organizations engage in dialogues around diversity, inclusion, and emotional well-being. Peter has also researched the effects of rejection and trauma on artists, ego functioning and their sense of confidence. They are presently teaching trauma informed practices at arts universities in Philadelphia as well as creating a theoretical model of practice for artists.

Into the Absurd: A Virtual Dinner Conversation grew out of the desire to stay connected to IRC audiences, artists and the community and to gather creators and artists for weekly conversation about the purpose and passion, driving their work, exploring the who, what, when, where and why of the creators in our community and beyond.

Each Saturday at 5:00 pm we gather on Zoom and Facebook Live! to explore what it means to live and to create in this time of existential uncertainty. Audience are encouraged to bring a beverage, their curiosity and questions. There are three options to join in: by signing up for the IRC’s email list on the IRC website at www.idiopathicridiculopathyconsortium.org where audience members receive an email each Wednesday detailing the guest for the upcoming week; by streaming on Facebook Live at the IRC’s Facebook page @IdiopathicRidiculopathyConsortium @ 5 pm, or by visiting anytime the IRC’s YouTube channel, where past conversations are archived, at The IRC: We Bring Good Nothingness to Life.
