-Give us a one-sentence summary about you!

We are a group of local artists who have come together with a passion for bringing to life queer stories in ways that are not stereotypical or expected.

-What’s the neighborhood and venue where you’re performing during Philly Theatre Week? Is this where you usually perform?

At The Iron Factory in West Kensington. This is our first show anywhere!

-What is unique about working in theatre in this particular area?

Honestly, it is a forgotten about area in our city many times so we want to go to a new audience and bring a new group of people to this area where there is a lot of great stuff going on, like the work they do at West Kensington Ministry just across the park from The Iron Factory.

-What's the most unique thing about your venue?

It is on the third floor, so it has windows where you can see the city skyline in the background.

-What is one thing that would be cool if people knew about your Theatre Week event before attending?

This is our inaugural production, and hopefully the first of many!

-What might your favorite audience member say to someone who has never been to any of your shows before?

Technically, no one has seen one! But we hope they would say that they can see themselves in our show. We aim to reflect all people in our stories, even in small ways, so that every person can walk out feeling that we cultivated a moment just for them.

-Any good eats for before/after your event?

Pizza Brain and Evil Genius Beer Company

Located on the northern edge of the Avenue of the Arts, Temple Theaters, the production program of the Department of Theater, has established itself as one of the finest nationally-ranked theater training programs in the nation.

-What's the most unique thing about your venue?

Temple Theaters usually performs at one of three venues - Mostly the small black box Randall Theater or the large proscenium house Tomlinson Theater, both located at 13th and Norris, but occasionally at the larger concert hall Temple Performing Arts Center which is where this event is located.

This venue is the original Temple Building where the college was founded in 1884 (though has been upgraded quite a bit).

-What is one thing that would be cool if people knew about your Theatre Week event before attending?

We have an amazing set of mini-workshop leaders!

-What might your favorite audience member say to someone who has never been to any of your shows before?

There's so much amazing work being done at Temple!

-Any good eats for before/after your event?

Free food AT the event!

-Give us a one-sentence summary about you and your company!

EgoPo Classic Theater revitalizes the great classics of theater and literature through adventurous and physically dynamic stagings that re-awaken the essence of the original work.

-What’s the neighborhood where you’re performing during Philly Theatre Week?

The Latvian Society is in North Philadelphia

-What is unique about working in theatre in this particular area?

It's close to so many great restaurants and shopping, but it also has a great neighborhood feel!

-What's the most unique thing about your venue?

We love that the Latvian Society is another existing community organization with its own cultural history - there's also a great bar inside the space, making for a great evening out!

-What is one thing that would be cool if people knew about your Theatre Week event before attending?

Sam Shepard wrote this play during a time in his own life when he was experiencing transition out of love and into new love. These characters are a perfect representation of those complexities, with Shepard's unique vision and rawness layered into the story.

-What might your favorite audience member say to someone who has never been to any of your shows before?

What are you waiting for???

-Any good eats for before/after your event?

Silk City for a fun vibe and Federal Donuts for some great chicken and sweets.

ou Shouldn't Be Doing What You're Doing On That LADDER

-Give us a one-sentence summary about you!

We make comedies filled with stunts and circus tricks.

-What’s the neighborhood where you’re performing during Philly Theatre Week?

We're in Northern Liberties. It's nice. We're literally across the street from the Spring Garden El stop.

-Is this where you usually perform?

Not really. We usually perform at The Drake or at Philly Improv Theater, but we needed 20ft ceilings for the show and Brian Sanders' JUNK was kind enough to rent the space out to us.

-What is unique about working in theatre in this particular area?

We're right down the street from Yards. Easy to get a beer right before or right after the show.

-What's the most unique thing about your venue?

I think that it's a converted warehouse but also that it's connected to a gym. We do a lot of physical performance. I think we could give the gymrats a run for their money.

-What is one thing that would be cool if people knew about your Theatre Week event before attending?

We use ladders in ways you've never seen before.

-What might your favorite audience member say to someone who has never been to any of your shows before?

You'll laugh at the jokes and scream at the stunts.

-Any good eats for before/after your event?

Yards Brewery.

Unattended Baggage

he Bed Show

-Give us a one-sentence summary about you!

Unattended Baggage is a new company that presents work mostly in NYC and now Philly. We make exploratory theatre that draws from unlikely source materials: documentary/autobiographical/historical texts, sci fi, and the exploration of subcultures.

-What’s the neighborhood where you’re performing during Philly Theatre Week?

We’re performing in a bedroom in Fishtown on the 8th and on the 14th we’ll be in West Philly at 7 & 9!

-Is this where you usually perform?

We perform in a variety of bedrooms who will host us!

Image

-What is one thing that would be cool if people knew about your Theatre Week event before attending?

We’re a site specific/immersive show! I think that’s pretty neato burrito!

-What might your favorite audience member say to someone who has never been to any of your shows before?

That we’re always doing something sort of impossible. We made a documentary play about Juggalos, a bunch of short horror plays, and we’ve done short plays in the streets. No two shows are totally alike.
