The Players Club of Swarthmore will be holding auditions for the Main Stage production of If/Then on Monday, June 14th, 2021 at 6PM by appointment.

Auditions: Monday, June 14th at 6PM by appointment.
Callbacks by invite only: Wednesday, June 16th at 6PM
Performance dates: September 17-19, 23-26, 30 & October 1-2
Rehearsal: Three evenings/week, starts July 12 with a full week of techn/dress rehearsals
Tech Week: September 9th-16th
Where: Auditions, rehearsals, and performances will be held in-person at the Players Club of Swarthmore (614 Fairview Rd, Swarthmore, PA 19081).

We will contact you with a time slot prior to audition night. If you are not able to attend in-person you may make video submission arrangements with the director.

COVID SAFETY GUIDELINES: All PCS Volunteers will be required to be vaccinated in order to participate on-stage and off for the remainder of the 2021 season.* If you are not yet fully vaccinated, but will be by the start of rehearsals, you may submit your audition via video.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Prepare 16-32 bars of a contemporary or Broadway pop/rock song in the style of the show. Songs from “IF/THEN” are allowed. Please choose a song that will showcase your acting abilities as well as your vocal abilities. A piano accompanist will be provided. There will be no dance call during initial auditions.
 
All roles are open. We acknowledge that many roles we list fall on gender binary, but invite transgender and non-binary performers to audition for the roles they most identify with. We are seeking 13 energetic, dynamic performers to fill the following –
 

Characters

 

Elizabeth (Liz/Beth) [Female, 30s]: newly single and newly returned to New York City, eager to start her life over and determined to get it right this time; in recovery from a bad marriage, she’s capable but not always confident, ambitious but often anxious; smart, straightforward, deliberate, hungry for joy but afraid it may never come; low G-flat with a belt to a high E-flat; along with big belt, must have ability to float and mix higher notes.
 
Kate [Female, 30s/40s]: a native New Yorker, romantic, and tough-as-sparkly-nails kindergarten teacher, she manages to be a great friend and an unapologetic feminist; big belt to an E with a nice mix.
 
Josh [Male, 30s/40s]: raised in the midwest, trained in medicine, tempered by two tours as an Army doctor; confident in his work, but less so in his love life, he feels a little out of step in New York City; steady, pragmatic, plainspoken; tenor; belt to an A/B-flat.
 
Lucas [Male, 30s]: an activist and citizen of the world; intelligent and ideological, well-read and well-spoken, dedicated to fighting injustice; baritone; belt to an A-flat.
 
Steven [Male, 30s/40s]: a charismatic, confident mover and shaker in city government; passionate about the issues but wise to political reality; high baritone/low tenor; belt to an A-flat or A.
 
Anne [Female, 30s/40s]: Kate’s girlfriend; logical, frank, calm, unflappable, with a grounded energy, and a practical nature; belt to a D with a strong mix.
 
David [Male, 30s/40s]: Lucas’ boyfriend; a successful surgeon who’s ready to meet the right man, settle down, and start a family; belt to A-flat/A.
