Commonwealth Classic Theater Company presents Shakespeare's heart-breaking tale of two "star-crossed lovers", the tribal war that infects both their families and their society at large, and the love that threatens to tear it all apart. Featuring some of Shakespeare's most beautiful poetry as well as several of his most iconic characters, ROMEO AND JULIET will thrill and enchant, while providing audiences with a stark reminder about the cost of our divisions in an all-too-divided world.
The company is especially excited to be building this production around two remarkable leads, Campbell O’Hare (Juliet) and Trevor William Fayle (Romeo). Both are recent Barrymore award winners, O’Hare as Best Supporting Actress in a Play for 2015’s Rapture, Blister, Burn at the Wilma and Fayle for Outstanding Ensemble in a Play for Inis Nua’s 2016 production of The Radicalization of Bradley Manning. Director, Kathryn MacMillan, has returned this season, having previously directed CCTC’s 2010 production of Moliere’s The Miser. MacMillan, recently named as the new Producing Artistic Director of Tiny Dynamite, has directed over 30 productions in the Philadelphia area and garnered critical acclaim for much of her work including The Beauty Queen of Leenane, The Liar, Arcadia, and Doubt. Joshua Browns is thrilled to be working with the incredible cast and artistic team of ROMEO AND JULIET in his debut as CCTC’s new Producing Artistic Director.
