French dramatist and playwright Jean Anouilh’s Léocadia (Time Remembered) is considered one of Anouilh's pièces roses (pink plays) -- comedies where fantasy dominated, providing an atmosphere to that of a fairy tale, where the focus is on the protagonist seeking a happier, freer existence in place of a burdensome past. Léocadia originally premiered at the Théâtre de la Michodière in Paris, December 1940, and was staged in London and on Broadway in 1957, with Richard Burton and Helen Hayes.
