As spring nears we enter the season of applications for summer and season-long programs. Theatre internships and apprenticeships are highly sought after by college students and recent professionals. Theatre Phidelphia is dedicated to helping helping promote these oppurtunities to the theatre community's next generation of artists. Fellowship Program - The Wilma Theatre

APPLICATION DEADLINE PAST

The Wilma Theater will begin accepting applications for our Production and Stage Management Fellowship positions for the 2018-19 Season as of January 1, 2018. Fellowships in Production and Stage Management are awarded to candidates who have demonstrated significant interest and experience in their chosen area and who possess a willingness to learn new skills required for the position. Fellows are employed full-time for the entire season and receive the following compensation: $350 a week, health insurance, complimentary tickets to Wilma productions, and various other benefits.​

Internship Program - The Wilma Theatre

APPLICATION DEADLINE APPROACHING

The Wilma Internship Program provides opportunities to gain valuable experience working at a highly respected regional theater. Interns will learn new skills while being mentored by experienced theater professionals. Our interns serve an important function at the Wilma and are treated as valued members of the staff. Although all interns are hired to work within a specific department, in a collaborative work environment like the Wilma most will end up assisting in other departments at some point during their time internship. Typically, Interns make a long-term commitment of at least 8 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks.  Academic credit can be arranged with academic institutions. All interns receive complimentary tickets to Wilma productions. At least 1 year of college is required for most Internships. Positions usually begin around the start of each academic semester but there is some flexibility with start and end times.​

DURATION: 10 to 14 weeks depending on the internship. Offered in Summer, Fall, and Spring.

Intern Program - People's Light

Season Apprenticeships - InterAct Theatre Company

APPLICATION DEADLINE APPROACHING

InterAct seeks four enthusiastic theatre artists for our 2018/19 full-season apprenticeships. From September to June, apprentices gain comprehensive experience working at a small professional theatre company, participating in hands-on tasks in every department. The apprenticeship culminates in an original show or showcase fully produced by the apprentices, with guidance from InterAct staff and use of the new facilities at The Drake Theatre. InterAct Apprentices go on to successful careers as performers, directors, playwrights, administrators, and artistic directors in Philadelphia and beyond.

Arden Professional Apprentice Program - Arden Theatre Company

The Arden Professional Apprentice Program's philosophy is to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the inner workings of a nonprofit regional theatre. It is designed to foster future theatre leaders. The program provides apprentices with a comprehensive knowledge of the inner workings of a nonprofit regional theatre through work in EVERY aspect of operations including front of house, box office, marketing, development, artistic, education, production, stage management, finance, and general management. Apprentices work approximately 50 hours a week in ALL departments. This is not an acting program; this is not a directing program.

DURATION: Full Season-Long from Late-August 2018 to Mid-June 2019

The Jilline Ringle Solo Performance Program - 1812 Productions

Each year in July the Jilline Ringle Solo Performance Program hosts a week-long residency for solo female artists at the 1812 Studio in Philadelphia. Two to three solo artists and a collaborator or mentor of their choice will be in residence, as well as program representatives from the Jilline Ringle Solo Performance Program Advisory Board. The focus of the residency is the development of a solo piece already in progress. Solo pieces in any stage of development will be considered. Artists will be provided with rehearsal space, rehearsal time and lunch each day. Each artist will receive a $400 stipend for themselves and another $400 stipend for a collaborator or mentor of their choice. Residencies run from Monday to Sunday and culminate with an informal sharing of work for an invited audience.

Internship Program - Theater With A View

Theater with a View is currently seeking interns for summer 2018. Excellent opportunity to work across diverse areas in a small and growing theater. Successful applicants will be highly motivated, detail-oriented and have superior communication skills. Especially seeking detail-oriented self starters with excellent written and oral communication skills. Interns will help with diverse day to day tasks in administration, social media, fundraising, marketing, casting, the rehearsal process, among others.

Acting Apprenticeship Program - Theater With A View

Theater with a View’s Acting Apprenticeship Program is a great opportunity for college-aged adults to gain experience working with a professional theatre company. Led by our Artistic Director, Seth Reich, we provide weekly daylong workshops taught by veteran actors in numerous subjects, the opportunity to understudy a role in our current season with a guaranteed performance for friends and family, as well as the opportunity to view the rehearsal process in all capacities.

Professional Apprenticeship Program - Walnut Street Theatre

Walnut Street Theatre's Professional Apprentice Program provides a training ground for early career professionals to bridge the gap between education and the professional world. It provides hands-on experience working alongside professionals in a specific, concentrated area. The program is designed to provide a season of intensive education and work experience in one of several aspects of theatre operation.
