Seeking Designers and Stage Manager for THE MEDUSA PLAY

Post Date: Aug 13, 2019

The Medusa Play - Written by Ang Bey - Directed by Ang Bey and Ryan Rebel

The Shoe Box Theatre Collective seeks a Set Designer, Costume Designer, Sound Designer, and Stage Manager for this new play written by a black, queer playwright.

Synopsis: When Meddie joins the ensemble of a white well-intentioned devising collective, she is forced to deconstruct the myth of what it means to be a black artist.

The Medusa Play oscillates between quasi-realism and heavy abstraction. We are seeking designers to make bold aesthetic choices in conversations with the core themes of the piece. A stipend will be provided at the end of the run. All rehearsals and performances will take place at the Venice Island Performing Arts Center, 7 Lock St. in Manayunk.

Early-career, POC, and/or queer artists strongly encouraged to submit.

Dates:

First Rehearsal: September (Fringe Compatible; TBA)

Designer Run: Week of October 21st or 28th (TBA)

Load-In & Tech: November 12th-14th

Performances: November 15th through 17th and November 22nd through 24th
