Props Designer

Act II Playhouse is looking to add to its roster of experienced Props Designers for the 17-18 season and beyond. Multiple paid positions still available for this season.

Duties & Responsibilities

Attend design meetings and work with the director to develop a full list of props prior to the first rehearsal.

Gather and deliver a full set of rehearsal props by the first day of rehearsal.

Provide finished props as soon as possible throughout the rehearsal process with a complete set of finished props delivered by the first day of tech.

Attend design runs and all technical rehearsals and previews and make reasonable adjustments or changes until Opening Night.

Maintain/Repair any props that are damaged during performances or need to be replenished.

Stay within allocated Props Budget and keep careful records and receipts of all purchases.

 

Qualifications & Skills

Hard working, motivated individual who enjoys working with a team.

Ability to respond to prop requests quickly.

Great communication skills in-person, on the phone, and through email.

General knowledge of a professional theatre schedule including rehearsals, tech week, and previews.

Ability to drive and the use of a car is helpful for this position.

Carpentry and Sewing skills are a plus.

Previous experience as a Props Master or Props Designer.
