The Bearded Ladies Cabaret Seeks a Part-time Production Coordinator

The Bearded Ladies Cabaret is looking for a production coordinator to join our staff and provide continual oversight of production needs over a theatrical season. 15-20 hours a week. Philadelphia local preferred. GNC, POC, Queer, Trans* to the front of the line. 

Qualifications:

  • A collaborative spirit and ability to both schedule and meet deadlines

  • A clear and responsive communicator

  • A generally positive demeanor when approaching challenges

  • The ability to lead and oversee a team toward a common goal

  • A passion for a collaborative, team-oriented work environment

  • The ability to both identify and solve problems creatively as they arise

  • Experience with product and equipment sourcing, budgeting, hiring, and theatrical production management from inception to completion

  • Working knowledge of all aspects of technical theater including but not limited to lighting, sound, set, and costume is strongly preferred

  • Preference for applicants with extensive production management or stage management experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Dropbox, and Google Drive functionality

  • Comfort with gender and identity politics in discussion and practice

  • Comfort with budget oversight 

  • Connected with Philadelphia technical and design community

 

Other Requirements:

  • Must love the word “Queer”

  • Must be available on some nights and weekends

  • Must be willing to make a one-year commitment to the position

  • Have schedule flexibility to accommodate the needs of projects

  • Valid driver’s license 

  • Comfort with travel 

 

Job Description:

  • Maintaining and creating systems of organization so information is easily accessible and shareable within the company

  • Attend weekly staff meetings in the West Philly Beardcave office 

  • Manage the budget for productions in collaboration with General Manager

  • Aid General Manager, Artistic Director, Artistic Producer and Associate Artistic Director in organizing and preparing for future productions 

  • Serve as Production Manager for small individual projects or promotional events

  • Facilitate communication between venues, producers, Bearded Ladies’ staff, and production personnel

  • Hire and manage production staff (Stage Managers, TDs, stage hands, etc.) and ensure all are on task and on budget

  • Aid General Manager in contracting and payment of artists, designers, venues, etc.

  • Create and update production calendars and distribute to production staff

  • Serve as a liaison between production teams and administrative staff

  • Acquire, organize and maintain storage space for local and touring shows for props, set, sound gear and costumes

  • Work with General Manager to make shipping, travel and accommodation arrangements for tours and guest artists

  • Some travel required

  • 2-4 days in office alongside staff is preferred


 

What we offer:

  • A flexible 15-20hr/week schedule (dependent on production-specific needs). A minimum of 12 hours/week must be in the Bearded Ladies Office.  

  • Currently all Bearded Ladies staff are paid at the same hourly rate of $22.00 per hour with .02 percent flat rate increases per year.  We are therefore offering $22,880, plus 2.5 weeks vacation for 20 hours per week. 

  • This position does not currently offer Healthcare, but the company is investigating that option starting in 2021.

We are a Philadelphia-based experimental cabaret company that is quickly gaining momentum. Our work is a hybrid between cabaret and devised theater; we often use popular culture, nostalgia, pleasure and spectacle to tackle complex, meaningful questions about contemporary identity.

 

Upcoming Projects Include:

  • Late Night Snacks, a 3 year cabaret club installation, with a full month of performance taking over a different neighborhood space each September. Up to 30 unique shows a month. (2019-2021)

  • Potential tours of existing work, nationally and internationally

  • One-night gigs, partnering alongside community partners and local venues

  • Developmental workshops of new work

  • Several local gigs with short-term runs
