Philadelphia Theatre Company seeks candidates for two temporary part-time summer positions: House Manager and Concessions Staff.

Front of House Manager

Reports to: Patron Services Manager

Description

Primary responsibilities include overseeing the lobby and ensuring that the experience of each patron is safe and enjoyable at performances, receptions and other events at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, previous customer service experience and a positive attitude.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and maintaining the appearance of lobby and auditorium areas 
  • Opening, monitoring and locking lobby
  • Crowd Control 
  • Resolving any patron questions/complaints/issues arising during productions 
  • Supervising and training volunteer ushers. Explaining procedures for ticket scanning, emergency situations, seating, and holds
  • Overseeing stuffing and distribution of programs
  • Monitoring the distribution of Assisted Listening Devices
  • Making pre-show and intermission announcements
  • Completing the Front of House reports
  • Other duties assigned by the Patron Services Manager

Compensation

This is a part-time position with a rate of $75/shift; paid bi-weekly. Standard shifts may be up to five hours, with a $15/hour overtime rate for shifts exceeding five hours.

Work Schedule and Location

All shifts take place at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (480 S Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19146). This is a temporary summer position for the months of June and July. Regular availability Wednesday - Friday evenings and all day Saturdays and Sundays is required. Employment beyond July may be possible if desired, at the discretion of the Patron Services Manager.

Front of House Concessions

Reports to: Patron Services Manager

Description

Concessions Staff are in charge of serving and selling snacks and beverages to PTC Patrons. They also handle merchandise sales. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, previous customer service experience and a positive attitude.

Previous bartending experience and valid certifications (RAMP, ServSafe, etc) are a plus, PTC sponsored training is available.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bar and patrons
  • Interacting with customers, taking orders and serving snacks and drinks
  • Assessing bar customers’ needs and preferences and making recommendations
  • Maintaining a safe environment by identifying intoxicated and problematic patrons and alerting management
  • Complying with all food and beverage regulations
  • Checking customers’ identification
  • Cash handling and inventory control using Square, including nightly reports
  • Other duties assigned by the Patron Services Manager

Compensation

This is a part-time position with a rate of $50/shift; paid bi-weekly. Standard shifts may be up to four hours, with a $12/hour overtime rate for shifts exceeding four hours.
