Auditions for TRIAL BY JURY

GSSCC is pleased to announce auditions for TRIAL BY JURY. 

 

This will be a newly staged production featuring a full orchestra. 

All roles are open. 

 

WHEN: 

Monday, Nov 6: 7:30pm-9:00pm

 

WHERE: 

Church of the Holy Trinity

Corner of High and Union St

West Chester, PA

 

REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE INFO:

Rehearsals begin in November and will be held Sundays from 7:00pm-9:30pm at the Church of the Holy Trinity in West Chester, PA . Tech week rehearsals will be 6:00pm-10:00pm Feb 4-8. 

 

Performances are Feb 9th and 10th at the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center in West Chester, PA. TRIAL will be fully staged with set, costumes, and full orchestra. Stage Director: Susan Guyer, Music Director: Florrie Marks. 

 

 

Character Descriptions and Vocal Ranges:

*Please note that there are no defined ages for the characters

 

  • THE LEARNED JUDGE, comic baritone Bb2-G4 – commanding stage presence, pompous, manipulative, and not terribly serious about his job
  • THE PLAINTIFF – Angelina, soprano Eb4-Bb5 – young, beautiful and jilted, she’s suing Edwin “for breach of promise of marriage” – think “The Other Woman” or “First Wives Club”
  • THE DEFENDANT – Edwin, tenor E3-A4– hapless and fickle young man – think Dorian Gray meets Ferris Bueller
  • COUNSEL FOR THE PLAINTIFF, lyric baritone Db3-G4– very serious, determined to win – think Jack McCoy  from “Law & Order”
  • USHER, bass-baritone F2-F4– coordinator of the courtroom, gravitas, stentorian presence, has a soft spot for the Plaintiff
  • FOREMAN OF THE JURY, bass Bb2-Eb4– feels terrible for the Plaintiff and wants justice served
  • ASSOCIATE, silent – Judge’s assistant
  • FIRST BRIDESMAID, soprano – Angelina’s BFF

How to Apply

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: 

For all singing roles: 

Two song selections in the style of G&S that reflect your vocal range as well as the character of the role(s) you are auditioning for. The songs should not exceed a combined total of 6 minutes. Songs from TRIAL are acceptable, but we encourage you to bring a different selection if possible. See below for vocal ranges and character descriptions. 

 

For the role of ASSOCIATE:

This is a silent role. Please prepare a 2-3 minute mime routine and be prepared to improvise with prompts from the audition panel.
