The Candlelight Theatre is presenting SOMETHING'S AFOOT,  March 14 - April 26, 2020.
 Auditions will be held in Philadelphia at The Rock School Monday December 2, and at The Candlelight Theatre in Wilmington, DE Monday December 9 and Tuesday December 10.  The production will be directed by Rose Freeman. Eric Longo is Musical Director. All roles are open and paid. Restaurant opportunities available.

Rehearsals will begin (approximately) January 21. Performances are March 14 – April 26, 2020 and generally Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Also scheduled: 1 Thursday evening - April 23, and 2 Wednesday matinees - March 18 and April 15.  

No phone calls to the theater, please.

Character Breakdown - Something's Afoot

Lettie - The saucy new maid at the Rancour mansion.  Frightens very easily and doesn't like being alone. Greedy. Speaks her mind. 20s plus. Cockney accent. Mezzo.

Flint - The estate caretaker. Rough around the edges. Has a flirtation with Lettie. Competent at his job. 20s plus. Cockney accent. Baritone.

Clive - The butler. Punctual and professional. Attentive to the cleanliness and upkeep of the mansion and the supervisor of Lettie and Flint. 30s plus. Standard British. Baritone

Hope Langdon - Young ingenue and the only guest who does not have any known connection to Lord Rancour. An Orphan who has inherited a large trust fund. 20s. Standard British. Soprano.

Dr. Grayburn -  Lord Rancour family doctor. Has been with the family for a long time and knows much about Rancour's past. 40s plus. Standard British. Baritone.

Nigel Rancour -  Nephew of Lord Rancour. Considered the black sheep of the family. As the closest living relative he believes he is the rightful heir to the Rancour fortune. He is desperate to find the will to confirm it.30s plus. Standard British. Tenor.

Lady Grace Manley - Prowe  - Older noblewoman from France. Married a French nobleman for status. Doesn't speak the language well. Rumor has it that she is broke and is desperate for a loan from Lord Rancour. 40s plus. Standard British. Mezzo.

Colonel Gillweather - Former military. Very familiar with different types of poisons. Has been involved in a long-term love affair. 40s plus. Standard British. Bari/tenor.

Miss Tweed -  Older woman who has come to the mansion at the request of her friend Lord Rancour. An amatuer detective. Quick to notice small details. 40s plus. Standard British. Mezzo.   

Geoffrey - A young college student. On the rowing team and has wandered to the mansion while caught on the water in a storm. He is an unexpected guest who everyone is suspicious of. 20s. Stan- dard British. Bari/tenor.
